My Slendid Birthday Surprise

About four years ago, my husband Josh planned a night out for us. It was a surprise and the only information he provided was that I needed to dress nice and bring a pillow and an outfit that I wouldn’t mind throwing away. I was a little concerned. I thought he may take me to a paint ball range and I’m a little too girly for that.

He picked me up at 5pm and took me to my favorite restaurant. While at dinner, he said, “I’ve got three hints that I’ll share with you throughout the evening. The first hint is that we are going down to Phoenix.”. At this time, we lived in Flagstaff which is about 2 hours away. During the car ride we listened to music and talked and then he provided me with the second hint. The hint was “It’s in a stadium”. I couldn’t figure out why he would take me to a stadium. None of my favorite bands were in town. When we were down the street from the stadium he said, “It’s very athletic”. Finally, I saw the lit up signs. Cirque Du Soleil. I’d been telling him that I always wanted to see a Cirque Du Soliel show. I was so excited and appreciative that I almost started to cry. It was a wonderful night.

Later, I asked him why he wanted me to bring clothes that I could throw away. He said, “I wanted to throw you off the scent”.
