    • 3 Easy Tips to Celebrate Inauguration Day

    • President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, will twirl their way through 10 official inaugural balls on January 20th. Since it's a Tuesday night, it might be hard for the rest of us to do a whole lot of twirling, but a little bit of celebration can go a long way towards marking this historic day.

Here are a few ideas for helping you to put a little pizazz in your Presidential Inauguration Day.

1. Serve up Obama inspired cocktails.

Barack's Rocks
2 ounces Skyy Infusions Citrus Vodka
1 ounce Blue Curacao
1/2 Squeezed Lime
3 ounces Sprite or 7UP

Shake all ingredients in a shaker and pour into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice; garnish with a slice of pear.

Ciroc Obama - Plan B Bar + Kitchen
Sugar, to rim glass
2 ounces Ciroc Vodka
1 ounce Chambord
Freshly squeezed lemonade
Lemon slice, for garnish

Rim a highball glass with sugar and fill with ice. Add vodka and Chambord. Top with lemonade and stir. Garnish with lemon slice.

O'Bomber
2 ounces Malibu Coconut Rum
1 ounce Blue Curacao
San Pellegrino to Top
Build in a Collins glass over ice.

Barack on the Rocks -fyve Restaurant Lounge, Arlington, VA
1-1/4 ounce Vodka (Smirnoff)
3/4 ounce Tropical Fruit Juice
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
Club soda
2 basil leaves

Add ice to a rocks glass. Add first three ingredients. Stir, top with club soda and garnish with basil leaves.

Obama Mama - Counter (NYC bistro & bar)
1-1/4 ounce White Rum (Bacardi)
1-1/4 ounce Spiced Rum (Captain Morgan)
1-1/4 ounce Coconut Milk
10 - 15 medium to large Blueberries for muddling
3 - 5 for Skewered Garnish

Gently mash blueberries in bottom of a cocktail shaker. Pour in the white and spiced rums and coconut milk with ice. Shake vigorously for several seconds. Double strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a skewer of fresh blueberries. If you want to turn this cocktail around into a red theme use raspberries, but you'll have to think up a new catch phrase.

2. Make Obama's favorite food to cook for dinner.

"I've been using this chili recipe since college and would bring it to any potluck. I can't reveal all the secrets, but if you make it right, it's just got the right amount of bite, the right amount of oomph in it and it will clear your sinuses." - Obama
